University Sport - an integral part of Australian higher education
Australian University Sport (AUS) is the peak body of university sport in Australia and represents more than one million students.
AUS' head office is located in Brisbane and there are AUS staff situated across the country to manage the annual regional and national university games.
Australian University Sport aims to:
- Foster university sport as a relevant and important part of university life
- Provide leadership in university sport
- Provide national policy regarding university sport
- Facilitate opportunities for student participation in competitive sport at a regional, national and international level
- Lobby and represent the sporting needs of Australia's university students.
Working with members, state and national sporting organisations, AUS operates regional, national and international sporting programs, covering more than forty sports in both championship and games format:
- Australian University Games
- Southern University Games
- Eastern University Games
- Northern University Games
- and the very popular Australian University Championships - Snow Sports
AUS also organises overseas sporting tours, and Australia's participation in both the World University Games and World University Championships.

The VSU Impact Study was jointly commissioned by ACUMA and AUS, and provides an analysis of the immediate impact of the introduction of Voluntary Student Unionism legislation in July 2006.
